Wanganui is already deriviug a benefit from the opening up of the Ohoto Block, although most ot the .sections have only been taken up within the past two ycairi. The Wanganui Freezing Works have received two consignments ot sheep from •the Ohoto settlers, and each year will show an increasing quantity. At the present time a largo number of men are employed, buslifclling in the interior, and next year there will be many thousands ot -heep depasturing on the new land. Last Thursday's Gazette notifies tlm setting apart for .settlement of 53,664 acres of liiiul Ttaturuke.Kawaiitehi, Hikimutu. and Khikau blocks, on the right bank of the Wsmgauui Hivcr. in the vicinity of Taumarunur. The llataruke block comprises 1:5, (H2 acres, which has been divided into l:i sections, ranging from 71!) to lU3 acres. In the Eatarnke block the acreage is 10,033 acres, made up of 14 sections of from 074 to 1731) acres. Tho total acreage of the Ivawautahi Mock is 7,077 acres, which has been cut up into 11 sections of from 416 to 1129 acres, while in the Hikimutu Block of 10,290 acres, there arc 22 sections.
