After Mr Bauer was murdered Cutler, a jeydler in Little Collins Street, informed the police that a man called at his shop and inquired for Bauer's address a few days ago. The description corresponded to that of a well known Victorian criminal. Siispccion points fo the theory that the fugitive has gone to Sydney. This idea fis in with the story that a. man was seeu o leave the building in a violent hurry a few minutes after 3 o'clock. He hailed .1 cab, telling the driver to drive as fast as lie could to poncer Street. The Sydney cxiiress left at 3.3 p.m.
