THE PLUNKET SHIELD.
(Per TJniUd Preca Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 18. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council a letter was received from the Auckland Association suggesting that aa Auckland had been unable tc play in any interprovincial matches, the Plunket shield for last season •should be awarded to that Association which the M.C.C. team should adjudge to Le the best entitled to hold it in respect of their play against the Englishmen. It was resolved to postpone consideration of the letter until a question relatingto the use of proxies w^en the allocation of the shield was being' considered .had been settled. A motion was . proposed that New Zealand representative players should possess a residential qualification, bufr after a short discussion, .it was withdrawn.
