With a view to the irrigation of one and a half times a greater area than at present is irrigated by the Nile, it is proposed to add 19i feet to the height of the Attoun darn in Egypt, at a cost of a million and a half. It is feared that the temple* at Philoe will be completely submerged if the work ia carried out.
