Henry Hartwell, a stranger here, who obtained money for advertising from local business folk on a hotel bill of fare without carrying out his contract, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment on seven charges of false pretences at the Police Court to-day. Accused waß arrested at Eketahima lately, and had been r'cccutlv discharged from the Auckland gnol after serving six month's for theft.
