Christchurch Motor Oar Fatality
Driver Charged with Manslaughter. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. William Thomas Felton, who was the driver of the motor car on December sth, which by colliding with a night cart on the Riccarton Road caused the death of George Tancred De Montafl:, was to-day charged with manslaughter. The coroner's jury found that death was caused by the driver's carelessness, hence the case. Robert Day, licensee of the Prebbleton Hotel, where the motor car party of whom De Montalk was one was supplied with drink, pleaded guilty to supplying liquor after hours and had his license endorsed, and was also ordered to pay costs. A case against Patrick Costin, of the Junction Hotel, where the party had another supply after hours, was adjourned. CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. William Thomaa Felton was committed for trial to-day on a charge of having caused the death of George Tancred De Montalk by negligently driving a motor car on the Riccarton Road on the night of the sth inst.
