At the Corporation Baths last (Monday) evening the members of the Yvanganui Amateur Swimming Club held a sports meeting. jn aid of the funds of the Wan-gasuUGarrison-Band. The weather was delightfully fine, and there was a very satisfactory attendance. The sport provided waa very goefd, and, the pleasure of those present was greatly enhanced by the fact that the Garrison Band rendered a very choice programme of music. The carnival will result in the Band's contest and uniform funds being considerably increased. The results were as follows: — 50 Yards Handicap: First heat. — W. Cummins, 3secs, 1 ; E. Olds gave an exhibition of fancy and high diving, which was much appreciated.
The Kimbolton sports, held on the 15th met. were a great success. A team of Wanganui swimmers journeyed out, those who made the trip including — H. Bridges, 0. Beavis, R. Richardson, W. Cummins, A. Pownall and C. D. Campbell. L. McCarthy, of Palmereton North, alao competed. The following were the results: — 50 Yards Handicap. — R. Richardson, 7 sees, 1; O. Beavis, 7sece, 2. 25 Yards Maiden.— ll. Bridges 1, McKechnie 2. , Spring Board Dive. — L. McCarthy 1, A. Pownall 2. 75 Yards Handicap. — R. Richardson, 11 tecs, 1; H. Bridges, Baecs, 2. Captain Bdwjn telegraphed as follows at 1.8 p.m. to-day: — Northerly strong winds to gale; gloss faliT tides good; sea considerable. The District High School girls spent a Terr pleasant day at Eai Iwi Beach yesterday, returning to town about 6 o'clock, after a most enjoyable outing. Mrs E. H. Clark and Mrs J. Aitken accompanied the girls.
