Westerners School.
There was a large attendance of parents and friends at the schoolhouse at Westmere to witness the distribution of prizes to the successful pupils. Mr E. Tingey, who presided, congratulated the
teachers on the large number of passes and the general tone of the school. • He also congratulated the children on the prizes won at- the Horticultural -Show. After singing by the children, the chairman pre<sented the prizes to the children. He thankedi the parents and friends for their liberal donations to the prize funds, and wished the children a merry Christmas and ha^ppy New Year. The prize list was as follows: — Standard VI. — Anne Rhodes 1, Jessie Russell 2, Rosa Bristol 3. Good Conduct. —Leonard Mc-Kain 1, Myra Cresswell %. Sewing. — Jessie Russell 1, Annie Rhodes 2. Standard V. — Eliza Livingston 1, John Cooper 2, J. Kurth 3. Standard IV.— Dorothy Collier 1, Willie Russell 2, Clarice Tingey 3. Sewing.— Olive Rhodes. Standard II. — Isabella Livingston 1, E. Brenmuhl 2, M. McKain 3. Sewing. — Florence Brenmuhl. Standard t II. — Kelvin Cameron 1, A. Collier 2, I. Rhodes 3. Sewing.— lvy Rhode*. Standard I.— Beatrice Bristol 1, Matey Salt 2, Jane Prince 3. Sewing.— Haiel Evans. Attendance prizes. — -Ruby Moon 5> Myrtle Moon, Violet Maule, Clarice Livingston, Ross Livingston, I- Livingston, Jessie Kurth, Annie Rhodes, Rosa Bristol, John Cooper. In addition to the above, every c*ild received a gift of a valuable book from the committee. The prize for the most popular girl in the school was won by Irene Cresswell, ard for the most popular boy by Arthur Collier.
