The Wanganui cOurt at the Exhibition.

TO THX EDITOB.

Sir,— As there is some misunderstanding as to the allotment of ' space in the Wanganui court, a statement of the actual facts may help , your correspondents on this subject who are at present at cross purposes. Whon applications weie first called by tho Jocal committee Mr Gurr agreed to take thirty feet (15 x 2). Tai^, together with Messrs Denton's, H hitiock s and Murray s applications, took all the available spare oa one side of our court. On this the plan was made and copies taken, one of wnich was given to iur Cahnan and the other to Mr Webb (who was sent down to creel the Spiral Co's exhibit) — about one Aveek previous to Air Caiman 3 leaving. Some time after Mr Muir agreed to enlarge Mr Gnrr's space to iiity feet (25 x 2) This alteration was penciled on the final rough plan, but unfortunately the alteration was not not noted' by the draughtsman. When Messrs Caiman and Cresowell, who were authorised to superintend tho arrangement and erection of arches, etc., to our court arrived in Christchurch the difficult was of course discovered. Various alterations were suggested to Mr Gurr to meet the case, but nothing would do except that Mr Denton's space should be curtailed. This Mr Denton declined to to agree to. Mr Gurr then found space elsewhere, probably in a better position than we offered. Neither Messrs Caiman or Cress well knew on reaching Christchurch of the alteration in Mr Gurr's space.

The description of.< our court by the Lyttelton Times ii highly satisfactory tO tl«? fCVT ->vllO lICT-v© -worked tor montbs past to make a show creditable to our town. Tne article commences by saying: "Wanganui. — Tho only town in New Zealand to set up a court by itself," and concludes: "The court presents a very business like appearance, and the progressive, town should fcol proud of its single handed but excellent display.'. — I am, etc. A. G. BIGNELL Chairman Wanganui Exhibition Committee. It.
