CORRESPONDENCE.
Motors and Trams.
to ran bditob. Sir, — I read with interest Mr Glover's opinions on motor 'buseß. But there is, I believe, a still more up-to-date means of locomotion, as to which I should like to hear what Mr Glover has to say. It is called "the steam tram," and I understand that in this system the cars are drawn by a steam engine. The idea, it will be seen, is quite a novel one, and I hear it is catching on fast. In fact, we have been recommended to adopt it in Wanganui. No doubt at Home people are slow in taking up new ideas; but possibly Mr Glover saw such a tram system being inaugurated in some of the more progressive parts of England. Possibly he was lucky enough to have a ride on one, if there are any ready for use yet. If so, what were they like? — I am, etc., INFORMATION.
The member for Wanganui informs us that the .£SOO mentioned in the Estimates for the Wanganui River Trust is in addition to the .£IOOO recently voted, the total grant being .£ISOO.
