The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill was introduced by Mr Millar, Minister for Labour. It provides for the appointment of a 'tr ember of the Supreme Court, who shall be subject to the same conditions as a Judge of the Supreme Court in reference to salary, emoluments, and privileges. |n the case of illness a temporary president may be appointed, and provision is also made for the appointment of a secretary. BUTTER TESTING. Mr. Massey has been advising the Government to send an officer of the Agricultural Department to all butter fac-
tories and creameries to check the fasts in the interests of suppliers. Mr. McNab's reply was that the experts now visited the different butter factories and creameries, and at times checked the tests. To meet the complaints of suppliers would require » person to be continually at the factory or creamer\ while the milk was being delivered, s that reliable samples could be taken. Tlx only feasible way to get over the difficulty was for the suppliers and managei to agree upon composite samples being taken of each supplier's milk, and havi them submitted to a qualified man at intervals for testing.
