HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.

♦ (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, October 17. The Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society's annual Spring Show opened to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance a record for a first day. The entries are large, and the quality of the exhibits first-class. The following are the championship winners: — Merino ram and ewe, Douglas McLean; Southdown ram and ewe, Nelson Bros.; Ayrshire bull, Slack Bros. (Baron of Ayrshire); Lincoln ram and ewe, Thomas Tanner; Ayrshire cow, E. S. Standen (Princess May IV.); Shorthorn bull, Mount Herbert estate (Clifton Coronation); Border Leicester ram, Nelson Bros.; Border Leicester ewe, Hon. J. D. Ormond; English Leicester ram and ewe, Douglas McLean ; Shorthorn cow, Mount Herbert estate (Duchess of Oxford XV.); Hereford bull, A. S. G. Carlyon (Ralph of Carlston); champion daught mare, J. W. Harding's Kate O'Shanc ; draught sire, Douglas Bros.' McPherson Grant; champion Shorthorn group (one bull and four cows), Archdeacon Williams' entry.
