A storm at Grafton unroofed the grandstand on the Grafton racecourse and damaged many places in the outskirts, the business portion escaping the worst violence. The surrounding districts suffered most, the injury to crops and fruit trees being very extensive. A farmer named McMahon was killed by lightning.
