OBITUARY.

O '» ■ ■■ Sudden Death of a Well-known Banker. (Per United Press Association). WELLINGTON, October.B. Mr James Cook, formerly well-known in banking circles, died suddenly yesterday from heart failure. Deceased arrived in Melbourne in 1859 under engagement to the Union Bank of Australia, and in 1862 came to New Zealand under engagement to the Bank of Otago, which subsequently amalgamated with the National Bank of New Zealand. He was connected with the latter institution at Dunedin, Wellington, Port Chalmers, Blenheim. He is survived by a widow, three sons, and four daughters.
