SCULLING.
3 AS. STANBUKY V. W. WEBB.
BY "VICTOR."
A short time ago Mr. Stanley Reeve, of Pahiatua, sent along a- subscription of £1 towards the Stanbury-Wcbb fund. Today the secretary of the Sculling Committee received the following letter from Mr. Reeve: — 'Dear Sir,— k few weeka ago I cont you i>l as a subscription towards the Webb Bowing Fund. I now learn that Mr. .Webb is not to c?aea work. A number of Mr. Webb's friend.3 are subscribing to a fund to enable him to devote all his energies to training for at least a mouth before the event, and I should be very much obliged if you add my subscription to that fund when it roaches you." The Pahiatua people are to be commended for their public spirited generosity in subscribing to the fund mentioned by Mr. Hccvc. The latter gentleman, however, has been misinformed in regard to Webb's training arrangements, as> it has already been, decided that he is to have at least five or six weeks solid training prior to the race, and will knock off work for that purpose. The money being raised at Pahiatua will be very welcome, though, as the more the Committee have at their disposal the more they will be able to devote towards Webb's proper training, and «±he better chance tho iatter will havo. Evidently there are some real good sports in Pahiatua.
