MUSICAL MELANGE.
On October 4th an unique entertainment is to take place at the Opera House, when a musical melange will he given in aid of the Salvation Army's rescue work. The programme. has been published, and it will be generally admitted that it is one of. the best that has been submitted to the public. The box plan is open at Mr Ralph O'Hara's music warehouse, and as there is likely to be a big demandjor seats an early visit to the booking ofiice is advised.
Next Thursday evening the last of the series of socials in connection with St. Laurence Church, Aramoho, will be held in the Aramoho Boating Club Hall. The evening's amusement will be made oi tableaux vivants, followed by refreshments and a dance. Several well known subjects will be represented in the tableaux vivants. Among them will be "Caller Herrin'," "Home, Sweet Home," »"The Seasons," and pictures from the plays and poems of Shakespeare and Longfellow. The Bcenes will also be accompanied by songs and music.
A general committee meeting of the T.Y.M.I. will be held next Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock, when arrangements will be made for the monster annual picnic to be held at Messrs Tucker Bros.' beautiful grounds at Okoia on November 9th. A proposed sports programme, on a big scale, will be submitted for consideration, and a sub-committee wil be appointed to look after all arrangements for that day. The T.Y.M.I. intend also to boom things in the athletic line this season, and matters in this connection will be discussed. The training season will soon be here, and it behoves everyone who takes an interest in athletics to be present. In view of the importance of the meeting it is hoped that every member will endeavour to be in attendance.
A very enjoyable euchre match was played last evening at the Carlton Tea Rooms between the Blue Bear and the W.E.T. Clubs. Altogether 24 players took part in the match, which ended in a draw, each team obtaining 15 winß. During the evening songs were given by Messrs Clover, Andrews, Moore, Beavis, and Langridge, and a splendid supper was provided by Mr T. Hodson .
