Mr Hughie, editor of Truth, is being: prosecuted to-day by Mr Macpherson, Inspector of Dairies. Truth published an article by a special reporter, in which the shocking state of certain dairies was described. Macpherson, with a view to proceeding against the dairymen for breaches of the Act, went to Hughie and asked the name of the reporter and the namc3 of the dairies referred to. Hughie refused, and asked that the request be made in writing. He was supplied with requests in writing, but still refused. Contending that the refusal was an offence under the Act, Macpherson took proceediugs. The case is unfinished.
