GRAND RINKING CARNIVAL. TO-MORROW NIGHT.

The rinking carnival to be held under the auspices of the Wangaaui Sinking Club in the Drill Hall to-morrow night promises to be a great success. Splendid entries have been received for the various events, no less than thirteen having entered already for the mile handicap. Owing to the Garrison Band being unable to attend, the club have engaged the services ->f a first-class orchestra of seven instruments, which will play selections during

the evening. Intending competitors 'al* notified that entries for the sports will close to-nigM with the secretary. Handicaps for the mile race will appear in our next issue.

The members of the Orcfic&tral Society are reminded' of the practice to-night at 8 o'clock.

The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce will be held at the office, Wicksteed Place, on Friday. 20th inst., at 3.30 p.m.

We are asked to again remind' our readers that the grand concert arranged by the W.C.T.U. for Thursday next has been postponed till the following Thursday July 26.

The Wanganui Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society will stag^e Carton's powerful domestic drama "Liberty Hall" on tho 28th of August. The caste is a very strong one, and the piece should prove one of the best pi<n-es yet staged by our amatems.

The usual Tuesday night classes will be re-commenced at the Technical School tonight, including the senior vocal music class. A new junior vocal music class will commence to-morrow night, and on the 6aine night Mr J. Grant will commence a series of lectures on botany. All pupils intending to enter any of the above classes should commence the first night.

The T.Y.M.I. intend holding a reunion banquet on Wednesday next. 25th instant, at 8 p.m. No less than 300 invitations have been issued to past and present members, and a very large attendance i 9 confidently anticipated. The> Rev. J. G. Chapman, President of the Institute, will dCv'upv the chair, and Messrs F. M. Spnrdle and W'/CL Bassett the vice-chairs. A capital musical programme has been arranged, together with an a] propriato toast list. There are still a limited number of ♦ icketa available, and the secretary would Tie pleased to hear from any old members who have not yet received an invitation.
