The Natal Government state that when found Bambaata's body was putrified, and it "was impossible to remove it to the camp for purposes of identification. A doctor removed the head, and took it to the camp. When it had been identified and photographed it waa buried with the body. It was never sent round the country to convince the natives.

The Government states that the campaign has been conducted humanely. Possibly in some isolated instances there has been brutality on the part of troopers and natives. In one instance they outraged wo.

When fighting in the bush against overwhelming numebrs, it was impossible to take prisoners.
