KAITOKE ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly mooting of the Kaitoke Road Board was held yesterday. Present — Mr C. W. Poynter (chairman), Messrs A. Obmcron, D. Mclntosh, I>. Blvth, and W. Brown. Tho .Chairman reported that arrangements had been made with Mr Hatcher for tho delivery of metal from the creamery towards the bridge. As .the metal being delivered by Mr Hatcher was" of a good quality, it was decided to order an additional 90 loads to be'delivered from the mile peg, provided the weather was at all Hi i table. Mr James Allison wailed on the Board in reference to the Telephone Bureau, asking th«> Board to guarantee the Government for five years at J!10 10b per annum. The Board referred Mr Allison to the Wanganui County Council, as they had no power to deal with the n>atter. It was" resolved that the Board's clerk write to the County Council to grant the necessary guarantee if possible. The Foreman reported that the contractor had very nearly completed his work, which had been delayed greatly by the bad weather. It was decided to order sign posts to bo placed along the roads at the different side roads. The Chairman reported that he had inetructed the clerk to write Mrs Seddon, sending the Board's deep sympathy at the l:it<? Premier's death, and that he had asked Mr Neilaon (chairman of the County Council) to represent the Kaitoke Road Board at the funeral. The Chairman's action was unanimously confirmed. The Chairman also reported that several of the ratepayers living near Holderdale had drawn his attention to the bad satte «f the road at Holder's Flat, and it was decided to put this in order directly the present contract is finished. Accounts to the amount of JEII7 18s 9d were passed for payment. Prior to the Board closing the meeting, the Chairman explained that the rates had been paid very satisfactorily, only a very few amounts being still unpaid. At the next meeting he would thoroughly explain the B6ard's financial position before striking the next rate, so that the Board would be better able to judge the rate necessary to carry on the works, and put the roads in a better condition than they are in at present. Ratepayers are asked to note that the Board meets the first Wednesday in each month, and the Board would appreciate it if any information, complaints, etc., were laid before them then.
