Victor Braund's Appeal
Not Ready with His Case.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 27.
The appeal *of Victor Braund against the decision given in Dunedin by Judges Edwards and Cooper, respecting Mr Braund's application for an order that the books of the late Colonial Bank be not yet burnt, was mentioned at a sitting of the Court of Appeal this morning. Mr Braund said he was not quite ready to go on, though he had endeavoured to carry out the terms on which leave to appeal was granted. Mr Fraser desired to proceed forthwith, but Mr Braund contended that he bad been handicapped in Wellington by inability to procure leading counsel, all of whom had been retained by other parties. He had been compelled to conduct his own case, and was absolutely not ready. He was a layman, and had had a very heavy case to prepare. Eventually the Court intimated that it would hear the case at 2 o'clock this afternoon, and insisted on this arrangement, although Mr JJrauiid said he could not possibly be jj ' jfly then.
