EASTOWN FIRE BRIGADE.
The competition held by the Elastown Fire Brigade on Saturday afternoon was most successful. The Brigade provided refreshments to all who attended, and the ladTes were accommodated wilh Beats. The various items were well contested, and proved very interesting to the spectators, particularly the surprise event, in which the competitors were locked up and brought out one by one, and told to put the plant, which had beon disarranged, to- 1 gether. Foreman A. Holme 3 was the most ..uccessful competitor, scoring two firsts and one second. The following were the prize-winners in the different events: — Three-men Hose and Hydrant and Rescue. — P. Keegan, G. Harris, and J. Souter, 31 4-ssec, 1; A. Holmes, G. Holland, and M. Keegan, 32eec, 2. Two Men Coupling. — A. Holmes and J. Souter, 38 l-ssec; J. Olsen and J. Wilson, 44 3-ssec ; M. Eeegan and G. Holland, 47 4-ssec, 3. Surprise Event. — A. Holmes, 49 4-ssec, ■ 1; G. Holland, 55 4-ssoc, 2; J. Wilson, 61sec, 3; H. Harris, 61 3-ssec, 4. Captain Spriggens, Lieutenant J. Sims, and J. Rice acted as judges. Firemen Mocseman, Perrett, Copeland, and Leatherlands aldo assisted. These gentlemen were accorded three hearty cheers at the close of the proceedings, as were also those who contributed to the prize fund.
