ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT.

The Orchestral Society's last rehearsal went splendidly, and the members are all working very hard to make the concert on the Bth inst. a big success. The Society will contribute eight numbers, including a complete Beethoven Symphony, tho "No. 1 in C." Madame Briggs, the vocalist for the concert, is the possessor of very high credentials. She is a professor of the London Academy of Music. For solo singing she won the Lord Mayor of London's prize, also a prize presented by the Corporation of London, in addition to holding five scholarships, Guildhall School of Music. She has sung at various times at nearly all the principal musical festivals in England, and is the possessor of many very flattering notices from the Home critics. The box-plan for the concert is now open at H. I. Jones and Son's, whore seats may be reserved, price 3s.

Shareholders of the Wanganui People's Building Society aro reminded of the annual meeting at Willis' Hall at 8 o'clock to-night ; also the extraordinary meeting aft-or the annual meeting.

The Young Men's No-license Club are holding a public meeting at the Road Board offices, Eastown, this evening at 8 o'clock. Everyone is invited, especially young people.

The attention of local pedestrians and cyclists is directed to the advertised programme of the Feilding Athletic Club, which appears in out columns. We desire to point out to local' athletes that the nominations close on Thursday, the 7th instant.

The Marist Brothers' School entertainment takes place the night after the general election. Tho political horizou then having been cleared ouce more, the public will be free to give attention to le3s irsomontous questions than choosing a representative in Parliament. The Brothers' entertainment will provide a delightful relaxation after the excitement of pollingday.
