WESTMERE SCHOOL CONCERT. TO-MORROW (FRIDAY) EVENING.
The West mere School concert, which takes place to-morrow evening, promises to provide a treat for the music-loving public. A splendid programme of part singing, choruses, solos, and recitations, in which some of Wanganui's leading amateurs will take part, has been arranged and given fine weather a record house should greet the performers. Patrons are notiri-ecl that a brake will leave the Fountain at 7 pm for tho Wostmere Hall Admission to the concert, including return brake fare, is 6d. A dance will be held after the concert.
The platform of the "No-License" mass meeting in tho Drill Hall on Sunday is a thoroughly representative one, as will be sen by advertisement. , In the nftefnoon Miss Fraser, M.A. (Principal of the Girls' College) will speak, together with the Revs. Chapman and Ryburn. The evening gathering will bo presided over by Dr Innes. while the sjDcakcrs will be Mr Win. Gray (Inspector of Schools) and the Revs. Drake and Dewdney.
Considering the short notice, a good muster of employers met at Dustin's rooms on Tuesday evening, and entertained MiField, of the New Zealand Federation, prior to his departure for England. Mr F. M. Spurdle, president of the local Association, occupied the chair, and after full justice had been done to the good things provided, Mr Field's health was toasted in a hearty manner. Mr Fiold ''then gave on instructive and interesting address relating to matters of importance to employers generally. Altogether a very profitable and pleasant evening was spent.
