(Per United Press Association.) INVERCAEGILL, November ?8. The Supreme Court was opened to-day before Mr Justice Williams, who congratulated tho jury on the light calendar. G. D. Newan and Denis Fox wore charged with forgery. The former pleaded guilty, and the latter not guilty. The case is proceeding. WELLINGTON. November 28. At tho Police Court. W. Urm, aged 17, employed at a betting shop at the Arcade, was fined 40s and costs for making a bet on the King's Birthday at totalisator odds with two policemen, who were in plain clothes. The boy Hughes, who escaped from the Terrace Gaol four daysyigrc-> and was recaptured last night, was. brought before the Magistrate's Court So-day. The Magistrate cautioned him and ordered his return to the prison^
