An Exhaustive Examination.

Press Association.— Telegraph .—Copyright.

Received November 27, 10.45 p.m. NEW YORK, November 27.

The chartered accountants of London and New York jointly made an exhaustive examination into the books of the Equitable Life, and certify that all the assets were found to bo intact, to the valuo of 416,166,500 dollars. The surplus over liabilities is 67.142,865. The reduction m the assets is entirely the result of the conservative revaluation, and chiefly .comprise real estate and shares in financial institutions. Mr Morton declares that the savings already effected, if capitalised on a 4 per cent, basis, would exceed tho reduction of the assets duo to revaluation.
