The annual meeting of the Wanganui Sailing Club will be held on Thursday evening next. The annual sale of work in connection with the St. Paul's fcoung Women's Guild will be held on Thursday, September _Bth. The Opera House will no doubt be well filled on Thursday and Friday evenings next to hear the Rev. L. M. Isitt lecture ou the subject of "No License." Members of the Non-Corns. Club are reminded of the lecture to bo delivered tomorrow (Tuesday) night • at 8 o'clock sharp. Local officers and non-coms, and officers of the Alexandra Mounted Rifles are cordially invited. Uniform, dress. The members of the Chamber of Commerce ar« reminded of the annual meeting which will be hold at the office^Wickstecd Plac-3, to-morrow night at 8 o'clock. The business will be to receive the annual reports, election of officers, etc.

As will be seen by advertisement in another column, jx mooting" of ratepayers of the Matongaonga Road Board is convened for this evening for the purpose of considering what further action, if any, ehall be taken to prevent tho passing of tho Suburbs Lighting Bill. Tho meeting is to be held at the Board's room, Eaatown, commencing at 8 o'clock.

Mr Willis, M.H.R., has arranged to meet the residents of Arainoho next Monday evening and the residents of Castlec'lift on the following Monday, due notice of which meetings will be given. Those meeting are called for the purpose of forming committees to secure the return of Mr Willis, the Government candidate. Mr Willis cordially invites all supporters and friends, together with any residents interested to attend. Ladies will be welcome.
