MARORO CLUB.
The first round for the Senior Championship took place on Saturday. . The afternoon was a perfect one for golf, but the cards handed in did not show as good scores as they might have done. The only player to strike form was W. Gordon, who went round in 90, and has in -consequence a of eight strokes on P. Parkes, who stands second. The following are the individual scores: — W. Gordon 90, Parkes 98, Haworth 99, Stevenson 100, Gordon 101, Mackay 101, Sigley 108, Beaven 109, Armstrong 112; and McLean 119* The second round will take place on Saturday next. The Junior Championship, to be decided by two rounds 12 holes,- commences on Saturday next, September 2. Entries closa with the secretary -on Wednesday next, 30th inst.
A Junior match (bogey) will be played next Wednesday by members of the Wanganui Ladies' Golf Club for a prize presented by Mrs Watt. Mrs Brookfield plays Miss Mclntosh, Mrs Forlong plays Mrs Vaughan,- Mrs Greenwood plays Miss Mason, Miss Krull plays Miss Allison, Mrs Christie plays Miss Heppell, Mrs Mackay plays Miss Peat, Miss Stewart plays Miss L. Brown, Mrs Watt plays "Miss Gresson, Miss Rawson plays Miss Cleghorn, Mrs Dyer plays Miss A". Cowper, Mrs Anderson plays Miss Christie, Miss Wiggins plays. Miss .Young, Miss Ashcroft plays Miss Williams, Mrs Stewart plays Miss Browne, Miss Treanor plays Miss Dymock.
