FOOTBALL.
- The Rev. C. C. Harper, of Palmerston, who is to referee in the Wanganui-Auckland match next Tuesday, has also been chosen referee for the Australia v. Manawatu, Hawke's Bay, and Bush Unions combined, which is to be played at Palmerston on September 6th. The following will represent Wanganui 111. in their match against Marton on Saturday next: — Darley, Spooncr, Claphani, Taiaroa, Peters, Spurdle, Hedditch, Morgan, Kiely, Blythe, Bone, Walker, Cummins, Diinkley, Slight. Any of these players who are unable to make the trip arc requested to inform the captain at once. A brake will leave the Fountain at 8 o'clock sharp. Commenting on the Manawatu-Bush Union match the Manawatu Times says: The Manawatu Union should paAvn something and buy a goal-kicker. A schoolboy or two might be available at a small fee. ?
Efforts are being made by the Manawatu Rugby Union to arrange a match with the Wanganui junior reps, on September 9th. The game is to be played at Palmerston. The following will play for the Old Boys' juniors in their match against Pirates on Saturday: — Allison, Cunningham, Enderby, Herbert, Anderson, Craig (2), Quiglcy, Cummins, Campbell, Chamberlain, Lockett, Brown, Murray, Dymock. Emergencies: — Dymock, Maihi, Newcombe, and Robertson. Any of these who are unable to play are requested to notify the captain at once.
