She is to return north again this afternoon. v The Stormbird has been delayed in poTt through stress of weather. She will probably get away this afternoon. < This morning 1 the Alexander crossed the bar*. She came from Nelson, and brought about 110 tons of coal and a quantity of mixed cargo. She was to have sailed this afternoon for Greymouth, with a shipment of stock. The Moa was unable to cross the bar inwards, this morning, with her cargo of Greymouth coal, owing to the shallow state of the bar, caused to a good extent by the easterly wind prevailing, and the present .neap tides. She will have to go on to another port to discharge her cargo, or else wait till early next week. The Muxitai was to have sailed for Opunake and Onehunga this afternoon, but it was doubtful if she would be able to cross the bar. The Putiki is expected from Westport about Saturday next with coal. The Shaw Savill steamer Kumara is to ■ail from Plymouth on Saturday next for Wellington, via Capetown and Hobart. The steamer Uganda, from Calcutta to New Zealand, passed Goode Island yesterday. There is at present a big demand in Australia for Homeward loading, and the Shaw Savill steamer Mamari, at present discharging at Port Chalmers, has been fixed to load in the Commonwealth for England. News has been received that the captain amd crew of the wrecked barque Anjou, which met her doom on* the Auckland Islands in February, arrived at Marseilles early in July. They wex© carried from Colombo to Marseilles by the French steamer Ernest Simons.
