The vessel came up to the town wharf at mid-day to-day with the remainder of her cargo. She sails for AVestport at midnight to-night. • • Yesterday the Gertie arrived from Westport" and the Shamrock from Puponga, both coal laden. " 'The Storm arrived from Dunedin, Oamartt, Timaru, Lyttelton and Picton yesterday, bringing a cargo of general produce. The^ New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kaipara sailed from Auckland \>n Saturday for London, via Monte Vid-jo and Ffemantlc . The * .Union' Company's new turbine steamer Maheno, launched on June 19, is m. Vessel of 5500 tons gross register, and of 800 d indicated horss-power, built by Mesais Denny Bros., Dumbarton. Her dimensions are:-^Length; 400 ft, breadth 50ft, and depth 33ft 6in. The entire main deck, together'with a large central house on the upper deck, is devoted to the accommodation of passengers, of whom about 240 first-class and 120 second-class can be carried, while provision is made for about 60 third-class when on the Vancouver mail fun. .The cargo gear consists of hydraulic hoists, working double derricks at each | hatchway; a powerful windlass with warping' ends, and a warping winch in the wheel-house aft. The vessel will be propelled by three sets of turbines, by Messrs Denny and Co. The ship has been built to the-rules and under the special survey of the British Corporation Registry.
