WESTPORT, August 12. There has been a good deal of petty thieving in Westport , recently, and in one case ,£l4 was stolen from a private residence. Last evening- a considerable quantity of gold and silver jewellery was taken from a window of Mrs Dickenson's shop while th© owner was at tea. Messrs Foster ' (Denniston), O'Brien (Granity), Betts (Reeffon), and Newton. (Brunerton), proceed to Wellington to place the resolutions of the last Trades" and Labour Council meeting, held at Reefton, before the Government.
Three Westport police officers hare gone to Wellington <to give evidence before the Pblice Commission.
The members of the State Collieries Board of Inquiry left last night" on their return to Wellington, where they will prepare their . reports on the Seddonville and Point Elizabeth collieries.
