Hammond (receive ZU), 80 — 78. In the semi-final for Men's Singles Patchett (receive 20) beat G. Browne (receive 20), 80 — 64. The final, to be played off during the week, lies between Powdrcll and Patchett.

A large party of residents from v this district left here this morning on a" trip to Mount Egmont. All are convinced of their " ability to reach, the summit, but I am thinking that by the time the muster bell rings at night there very few will have succeeded in accomplishing the feat.

The Catholic picnic held at Mr Donovon's property at Alton to-day was a great success, and being favoured with the best of weather, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. In the evening a concert was held, when a first-rate programme was submitted, and listened to by a large audience. The variotts items were rendered in good style, and encores were frequent. After the concert the hall wns cleared for dancing, and every inch of dancing space was requisitioned to accommodate the large number- present. St. Patrick's Day, 1905, will long be remembered by aIL those who attended this concert and dance.

, I notice by their bills that Wirths' Circus is passing this town by, and I don't think there are many people here'ywho wll regret it, as ths run of amusements Jately has been rather a- drag on the pulses. A respited for a few weeks will not' do anyone inucli harm.,"

Children When Teething.-^l'his is- the most dangerous age in the life of a child.. At this time they have more-or.'leas'diar-rhoea, which weakens tho system and 'renders the child more susceptible to disease. Ang unusual looseness of the bowels should be promptly controlled, which can be done by giving Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy, 'with an occasional dose of castor oil to cleanse the system. This medicine is pleasant to take and is 1 without doubt the safest remedy in use today for all bowel troubles. v For aale by Groves Cash Store and F. L. Spurdle.
