NEW PLYMOUTH CARNIVAL
(Per United Press Association.) NEWPLYMOUTH, December 30.
The attendance at the Axemen's Cirnival in connection with the Exhibition- is very large, trains bringing in many country visitors. Blanc and /other Australians are competing in the Handicap Chop. Blanc won the first heat> easily. Ooold (Tasmania) was first in the second arid G. Pretty in the third. An interesting event occurred this morning in connection with the Maori village in- the Exhibition grounds, namely, the birth of a sou to one of the inniatca. The takings at the Exhibition are keeping'up wonderfully well. The display of school work, especially, from Dannevirke, is excellent, and the 'judges say it is the best they have seen. The filial of the Handicap Chop resulted Pretty 1; Goold 2, Berg 3. Many thought Goold had won oy a stroke. 'lime, 2mm 22sec, the logs 1 being tough. ' Maori Chop— -N. Ooftey 1, Lethetby 2, P.
