Advices from Lodz (Poland) show that the great iron railway bridge at Pabianica was undermined in order to prevent the transport of reserves. The mine exploded, doing slight damage. Another opportunity was taken and discovered, and explosives were also used elsewhere. The entire railway is now guarded. Seven shots were fired at and killed the Chief of Police while walking in the main street at Schuscba, in the Caucasus.

A meeting of workmen at Bakau, presided over by the Mayor, passed a resolution condemning the war as senseless and ruinous, and\ expressing the opinion that only free representatives of the«people, elected by secret ballot/ on the principle of equal rights, would be able to extricate Russia, and adding: Our mottoes are "Peace and Freedom."
