ADDINGTON MARKET.
(Per United Pr«aß Association.) CHEISTCHURCH, December 38.-/ The Addington market was of a holiday character, both ' entries an.d ■ attendance -, .i . being small. The entrkra comprised 4»12 sheep, 252 cattle, and 15S pig 13 -,. - - '*' Fat cattle. — Eighty-eight . head were - yarded. The demand was very languid, and the sale was_ very irregular at an average range of prices considerably lower than 'has been recently current, a large' proportion being withdrawn. Prime beef -, sold at the rafc* of 22s 6d, and cows' an«L secondary 19s to 20a per lOOlba. Per head: Steers Ml to 17s 6d, heifers £5 Vis 6d to £7 12s 6d, cows £5 to .£6 17s ad- ' . Fat calves.-^— Tho entry was of good \ quality. Prices ranged from 145, t0 405." ,;. Store cattle.— The entry was. small, and there was no change in values.;' Sales were . made atr the following pricesi^Yearliog*. . 26a, 15 to 18-month 39s 6d to 535, 2-year" r . heifers £4 Sis 6d; 3-year> steers passed ap]' £6 Bs, dry cows 3Qs to SA. . Dairy cows. — There was a- small entrj, * and business was unimportant. ,' t , Pat sheep — Business was extremely dull, - and th© small entry- was' not fully celared ~ at th© lower prices which we're* current.- ' Wethers were easier, while ordinary ewes suffered a decline of Is to 2s. Prime wethers sold at lls to 22s 6d, others from 18S, prime ewes 18s to 19s lld^ and aged from ie=?:-- ••• •-■;.■'-' • •;_ ■-•/-%_ .;« Fat sheep.— The. yarding was small, atfd , only good quality was in demand. Fat lambs. — The supply was small, But included a good proportion of prime" qual- ' ity. - rices were very irregular, but on the average Is 6d lower than last week.' The best pens sold at 17s td 20s, others 13s 6d to 16s 6d.
Store sheep. — A fair entry of store sheep ' came forward. The sale was irregular, but, • on the whole, previous values were maintained. The- principal sake were of 2? .' tooth wethers — a small line at 19s 6d, 94" at 18s sd, 82 at 17s 9d, 72 at 17s 4d, aha - 267 at 10s 9d. Two and 4-tooth wethers t, ." 295 at 17s Bd. Half-bred and crossbred.'' ewes at IS3 to 19s 9tt. 231 ewes, with lambs, at 18s 7d, all counted. A small line of lambs at 12s.
Pigs. — A small entry averaged about previous rates — 4d to 4Jd for baconers, • „ and 4Jd to 4i|d for porkers. - -
