SA.CHVD CONCERT SUNDAY NIGHT.
Without assuming airs the now celebrated Black Family can claim that their return visit to Wanganui has been pleasurably anticipated by* the music-loving portion of the community — that means the majority Of the public. On Sunday next this talented troune will have the pleasm-o of presenting to'~their Wanganqi friends a specially selected' programme of Bocrcd items, and on Monday evening an entirely fresh programme, with one or two old favourite turns that audiences must have will bo given. Nor, it may safely be said, will the pleasure o'e all on one side. It ie a great thing for any company of entertainers to be able to claim -that they have never disappointed their hearers, that the programme has invariably -come up to expectations and been, considered good measTIIO and value for the entrance monay. Yet that is a proud boast of the Black's, which has not yet been challenged. ' They are ' musicians to the' very tips of their fingers, devoted to their profession^ and possessing the ability which c6ines of loag and careful training on top of a. natural, ingrained bent for things musical. Their performances, too, by reason of their wonderful versatility, never fail .to hold audiences.

The Salvation Army arc holding their annual picnic on New Year's Day in the Aramoho Gardens. The Army's wellknown success "in. running" ' happy aivcT'enjoyabie picnics, combined with the beauty of the popular gardens, ought to attract large crowds.

last evening and, entertained |hJB patients and staff wth the following- enjoyable programme: — Overture "Mobile Prance" Miss Lucy ; Punch and Jiidy show* which, kept the patients in roars "of laughter lor -fully half an lionr, Mr Honrys soug, 1 (enCoEed) i Mia3 Goodie; comic song "I'm Looking for the Hidden Treaure," Mr Henry, (encored); character song, Miss. . Goodie; character duet, Mr Henry and Miss Goodie; recitation, Mr Henry; song, (pathetic). Miss Goodie; finale, company, "God Save the King." One of the patients on behalf of his fellow inmate*, in a neat little speech, thanked Mr Duigan and his sisters for' providing^ such a good evening's enjoyment. We hear that Mr Duigan and his sisters intend repeating their unique entertainment at the Old Men's Home.
