More Port Arthur Forts Taken by Japanese*
Pres« Association. — Telegraph. — Copyright Received November 7, 10.13 p.m. LONDON, November 7. Vladivostock Harbour has been mined for a distance of seven miles. The fortress has been greatly strengthened, and is now described as a second Port Arthur. > Japanese cruisers stopped and examined the Peninsular Company's steamer Formosa, which reports that the Japanese Sea is full of mines. She almost struck one. Japanese despatches, covering previously cabled advices, state that the capture of the counter scarps and forts on the 30th was preceded by six hours' heavy bombardment and five hours' fighting. The, Japanese fought brilliantly, recapturing P Fort. The left column attacked a fort east of Keikhwanshan and two others, capturing a fort northwest of East Keiktwanshan.
