RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.
(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 24. Very little work of importance was done this morning. Signalman went once round on the plough at a steady half-pace. To-morrow and Stronghold finished together after a half-mile flutter from a standing start in olsap. Calibre moved freely once round at half-pac«. then trotted -a -circuit. Canticle spurted two furlongs. After breakfast Secret Society cantered., and Ronga (Hart) and Wet Blanket (Cox) were schooled over six flights of hurdles. The former ran off at the second fence, but otherwise both shapad' moderately well. l ' Among those to do steady to half-pace work, were Cannie Chicl, Chryseis, Catherine Gordon, Ability, Makaroff, Czarcvena, Count Gorton, The Mohican, Huku. The Guea««r, Zealous, Tupar'a, MalakoiT, Handel, Slow Tom, Ingleneuk, Glenowlet, Clanchattan; Jacket, Roseshicld, Phatoonitia, Shell, Ordnance, and Miretta.
