TO THE EDITOR. \ Sir, — Afl.the time is drawing near for ihv above, it bohovrsr us, as ratepayers, to take a keener ml crest iii the election of one who will administer the affaira of tlio borough with justice, aud ability. No member of the prctonfc Council, during his trvro of office, has exhibited aai especial or peculiar talent to entitle him to a claim upon the office, aud as Mr Basselt, unfortunately for the ratepayers (for there is no ;itore suitable man for\ the position in the town) has taken a contract. 1 think Mr F. M. Spurdle ■ ouglli to be requisitioned, and. providing his directors were agreeable, T think the election of thia old and tried Mayor would be- very popular. Hoping you may Piirourage, through your columns,, an expression of opinion on (his question. — I am. etc..
