At Hawera to-day, Mr Eyre-Kenny, S.M., gave judgment "in the case H. E. Ayes v. Patea County Council, in which plaintiff claimed .£199 damages through alleged negligence of the Council in stacking some timber, etc., on the road near the approach to Patea Bridge. Judgment was. given for plaintiff for .£ll9 14s and costs.
The chief points of the judgment; which is of great moment to local bodies, will be given in next issue. • 1 The Court was asked to fix security for appeal.
