Received September 21, 11.57 a.m. ■ HOBART, September 21. ■ The walking craze had a tragic termination on Saturday, when forty competitors started to walk to the Pinnacle, the topmost point of .Mount ' Wellington, and back. The weather was , inclement, and midway up the { mountain a heavy snowstorm commenced. ; The, condition then became; serious. Some -.became rigid with cold, and others fainted. Only two reached the Pinnacle. The , men came struggling, back at intervals, some temporarily demented, ! and two> missing. Search parties found one, called Richards; dead on ttie track. The b,ody of another, named Radford, was found some distance off. One foot was caught in the cleft of a sapling. The .winner, Cocksbutt, suffered severely. •
