At the" outset the Shamrock had the windward berth, and for a short time was footing it fast, but the Beliance, outpointing her, passed her. The wind soon blpwing nine knots, the Beliance strengthened her # position, her advantage to the outer work being 6min 9sec, deducting her allowance. She soon led by two miles, and won by three. A dense fog covered the course towards the close of the race, preventing the Shamrock finishing.
