Details of the recent accident tp, the cruiser Slakfr'shdw that there were- several cases of conspicuous heroism. The, engineer and a sub-lieutenant closed the stop valve in- the face of a deadly rush of steam and boiling water. Chief Stoker Gee thrice entered the stokehold, which was a veritable cauldron, rescuing a man each time before he was overcome with exhaustion. He wast badly scarred.
