o Presa Association.— Telegraph.— Copyright. Received August 17, 11.24- p.m. BRISBANE, August 17. Bishop' .Wallis, of Wellington, was a] •passenger by the Miowera. ' ' In an interview, he stated that he had spent a good deal of time in London, aridhad interviews, with a unmbor of big men, '. including Mr Balfour, and got what hcwattted— mohey a*nd men' for church work. A! 'question occupying' much attention in England was that of education. Personally he considered the Education Bill was very fair. Many people misconstrued it. ' They contended that the schools were to. be given over to tho Church. This was wrong. They were to keep tho Church schools as at present, and establish Biblercadiuw in Stale schools. With reference to Mr Chamberlain's' tariff proposals. Bishop Wallis' thinks they will pass, but not in/ the immediate future. The Bishop leaves Sydney' for New Zealand in the Moeraki on Saturday.
