INVEftCAEG-ILL, June 15. Perhaps the most conclusive proof of the disastrous character of last susiEiev-in Sijuthinnd, and the backward state of barvesting operations, is the fact that to date 316,000 fewer sacks of grain have been carried over the Southland railways than last year, the figures being — Present season, 268,149; last year, 58,j,000. Needless to say, the perennial cry of shortage of trucks is not heard. The root crop* Porting forward aro in many cases also very poor.
