Received June 9, 9.30 la.in. ' OTTAWA; June 8." r Ia March laat the. Canadian Government invited tenders for BritislT-owned Atlantic steamer services, 1 vessels* to be from 18 to 21 knots speed. One of j. the conditions , was that the vessels should not call at any foreign port. Only two tenders had been received, one frcton the Dominion Line and the other .from' £ne Allan Line. The Dominion tenders are for a foitnightly 21-knot, alternating with 16-knot service, and asks for a subsidy of per annum, with sea postal freights. The Allan Lino tendered for a similar service, and asks for J300,000^ subsidy. ' The Canadian Pacific Railway Company declined to tender, • preferring lan all-the-ycar-round service of 20 knots.
