FIRE BRIGADES ' DEMONSTRATION

o (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, March 10. The Fire Brigades' demonstration opened to-day' in beautiful weather. Although no holiday is being observed, there is a large attendance. Some delay occurred at the commencement owing to so many formalities ; but a start was made about 10 o'clock with the Hose, and Hydrant Event, of five men, for which 42 teams entered. After three of the teams had run, the water main in Thackeray Street burst, and further delayed the proceedings, but after a while, repairs being effected, the Manual Event was gone on \vith.
