The Board of / Trade has appointed Henry Birchonough, member of the Council of the Statistical Society, to visit South Africa and report on the openings for trade th«re. It is the intention of the Board to improve the system of obtaining information from the self-governing colonies so as toenable the British to successfully compete with foreigners. .&
