In the Assembly Mr See (Premier) regretted that the Federal Government was unable to remit duties. He admitted there ■was a good deal in their contention, and said. the State Government could not refund the duties. They would have no guarantee that the right* people would supply farmers < with seed wheat. He also intimated' that if any attempt was- made to corner wheats to tlieinju»y>,qf the people the State would not hesitate to take the resjionsibility to supply the people at bedrock prices. It would not permit monopoly to inflict injury. ' The leader of the Opposition gave notice of motion that in view of the serious effects of the -drought and -failurp of the wheat harvest, tho Government ought to make provision for a temporary rebate oil the payment of „ duties oh i fodder v and ■ breadstuffs, and as far may be practicable import, on projier guarantees for payment thereof, breadstuffa and fodder. , >N The motion was not taken as one of censure, Mr Carruthers desiring to votes' irrespective, of party feeling. „ '
